Range Description

The species is known from northern Germany southwards to to the Mediterranean (France, Spain, Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco) including Corsica and Sardinia, extending eastwards across the whole of Italy and western parts of Austria, the Czech Republic and Poland (Christodoulou et al. 2012). Although the Central European range of the species has been considered to be due to human mediated invasions, these are likely to be range expansions due to the connected nature of inland waterways.
