"Calliotropis (Solaricida) antarctica n.sp. (Figs 136, 137, 143)
MATERIAL EXAMINED: Eltanin Stn 268.
DISTRIBUTION: Known only from off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula in 2763-2818 m.
DESCRIPTION: Shell of medium size for the group, depressed conoid, diameter considerably greater than height, widely umbilicate. Protoconch eroded in all specimens, whorls three without apex, rapidly expanding. Spire whorls carinated by a relatively strong spiral cord which continues on to the last whorl, where a second equally strong cord is developed about the level of the adapical margin of the aperture. Base rather convex, sculptured with six relatively prominent spiral cords, the last slightly more pronounced than others, bordering the umbilicus. All whorls crossed by obliquely set, rather blunt axial lamellae that cross the spiral cords rendering them finely, but strongly nodulous. Subsutural lamellae more widely set than those below. Suture moderately impressed. Umbilicus widely perspective, walls sculptured by continuations of axial lamellae, aperture oval, outer lip sharp, angled by the spiral cords. Columella thin, straight but rather obliquely set.

REMARKS: The pattern of sculpture is relatively consistent in the three specimens available except that the smaller paratype has only four spiral cords on the base and that in the other paratype, two additional spiral cords are developed on the shoulder of the last whorl.
The closest relative of this species is obviously the form described below from the Ross Sea. Both seem closest to C. (S.) abyssicola Rehder and Ladd, 1973 from the Hesse Guyot, 17°53.2'N, 174°28.8'W, in 1719-1763 m. They differ in the much reduced axial sculpture, the very much finer nodulation and much more pointed spire."
