There are over 100 species of rose. These shrubs and climbing plants are well-known for their thorns and large, colorful flowers. The fruit of roses are known as rose hips, but most species bred by humans do not grow fruit. The dog rose grows bright red tomato-like hips. The hips have a lot of vitamin C. They are used to make syrup, jam, and tea.
