Overview

Alpheus alcyone is an Indo-West Pacific snapping shrimp that belongs to the Crinitus species group within the genus Alpheus (Banner and Banner 1982). It is widespread across the Pacific and Red Sea, and lives in coral rubble and possibly in sponges.
