Description

Ammotrypane nematoides Ehlers, 1913

 

Ammotrypane nematoides Ehlers, 1913, pp.524-525. 65º32’S, 85 º30’E, in 2725 m.

 

Diagnosis: Threadlike, yellowish white, glistening, resembling a nematode. Length 30 mm; width 1 mm; segments number 30. Prostomium bluntly conical, about as long as first 2 segments, terminates anteriorly in a palpode. Body lacks segmental furrows. Each side with a longitudinal furrow, along which small parapodia emerge. Branchiae absent. Pygidium with a postanal appendage, appearing annulate in transmitted light, about as long as last 2 segments.

 

Distribution: Antarctica, eastern sector; abyssal.”
