Range Description

The nominate subspecies of this strictly forest butterfly is found between the Niger Delta in Nigeria through the Cross River Loop to western Cameroon, where it is well distributed in good forest. B. phantasiella simulata was described from the KateraForest in Uganda and also recorded from MinziroForest in northwestern Tanzania. Excluding the uncertain simulata records, the extent of occurrence of the nominate subspecies is in excess of the threshold 20,000 km2 for threatened species.
