Description of Vampyrelloides

The only genus of vampyrellids encountered only in marine conditions where it is associated with algae. Can be quite large, multiple tracts of fine pseudopodia. Encystment involves cells about 0.5 mm in size breaking up to give cysts about 50 µm in diameter.
