Description of Allantion
Flagellate with smooth rapid gliding, rigid, with single trailing flagellum and refractile inclusions. From soils and seawater, forms cysts. One species, A. tachyploon measuring 7 - 14 µm. Distribution widespread and common. Type species. A. tachyploon Sandon 1924. Ref VÃrs, 1992.
