Description of Corallomyxa

Multinucleate amoeba forms reticulate plasmodium when attached. Releases multinucleate or uninucleate 'buds' under adverse conditions, such as prey depletion. In some, centriole-like bodies have been observed by TEM suggesting possible allegiance with the Acanthamoebidae. Type species: C. mirabilis Grell, 1966.
