Description of Stereomyxa

Amoebae branched, often with long slender branches. Never anastomosing. When actively moving, amoebae extend up to 300 µm or more as in S. ramosa. Uninucleate, with an obvious central nucleolus. Floating form rounded with a few to several radiating, blunt-ended, pseudopodia. Marine.
