Description of PseudotrichomonasSmall flagellates (10-14 µm) with three anterior flagella and a recurrent one associated with a shallow, undulating membrane nearly as long as the body; no free posterior recurrent flagellum. Costa absent, slender axostyle, generally protruding posteriorly. Ultrastructural study has shown the trichomonad features, the lamellar-type structure of the UM, and the absence of the costa. The only species, P. keilini (Bishop 1939) lives in ponds. Forms cysts. Electron microscopic study by Brugerolle (1991b). Type species: Pseudotrichomonas keilini Bishop, 1939.
