Description of Reclinomonas

Lorica stalked, laterally compressed, the exterior studded with nail-shaped scales; portion of left ventral microtubular root in trophic cells terminating blindly in an emergent structure, the epipodium. Found in freshwater habitats in North America and New Zealand. Here considered monotypic, although Flavin and Nerad (1993) transferred Histiona campanula to this genus.
