Okanagana arctostaphylae is associated with chaparral in California (U.S.A.). It was named for its affinity for manzanita (Arctostaphylos spp.) and was reported to be restricted to Arctostaphylos pungens in a southern California habitat in which the red coloration provides crypsis. Sanborn & Phillips found only two locations for the species, one of which is Cajon Pass, a common collecting site in California. (Sanborn & Phillips 2013)
