This species is found in the highlands of eastern Venezuela, Guyana and Suriname above 500 m (Valasco, 2005). This species is probably the only endemic to the Guianan highlands (Lim pers. comm.). Specimens previously reported from Colombia appear to have been misidentified (Simmons, 2005; Velazco, 2005).
