Description

Perennial herbs or shrubs, usually densely stellate-tomentose. Stipules linear, Leaves crenate-serrate or entire. Flowers yellow. Sepals 5, free almost to base. Bracts of the epicalyx 3, persistent. Stamens 5, alternating with 5 conspicuous staminodes. Ovary sessile, 5-locular. Stigmas 5, linear. Fruit a loculicidal capsule.

Melhania

Melhania is a flowering plant genus. Traditionally included in the family Sterculiaceae, it is included in the expanded Malvaceae in the APG and most subsequent systematics.

Species include:

M. decanthera (Cav.) DC and M. laurifolia Bojer are now in Dombeya (as D. decanthera and D. laurifolia).[2]
