Platypedia affinis is known from the intermountain forests of Utah (U.S.A.). Sanborn & Phillips (2013) reported finding it in association with Gambel’s oak (Quercus gambelii Nuttall), manzanita (Arctostaphylos spp.) and Utah juniper (Juniperus osteosperma).
