Wikipedia

Poecilopsettinae

Poecilopsettinae is a subfamily of fish in the Pleuronectidae family, comprising three genera and 19 species. Species are typically demersal, living on marine bottoms at depths of between 60 and 500 metres (200 and 1,600 ft) in the Indo-Pacific and northwestern Atlantic; the deepest recorded occurrence is 880 metres (2,890 ft) in the coloured righteye flounder, Poecilopsetta colorata. Sizes range from between 9 and 19 centimetres (3.5 and 7.5 in) in length, though most species are usually under 15 centimetres (5.9 in) long. Diets consist of zoobenthos.[1]

In some classifications, Poecilopsettinae is raised to the level of a family.[2][3]
