Global Range: (Unknown) The original range was on the order of 300,000 square miles. The current range is unknown. Discover Life maps 13-14 collections from 1896 to 2011 from Royal Oak, British Columbia (historic) east to Okanogan County (2-3 places in 2004) and Pullman Washington (historic), interior Oregon, south down both sides of California to San Benito County, California, making this among the most rarely collected of the widespread Osmia. The species is extant at both ends of the range, with no other recent records. Since Osmia odontogaster belongs to a species group that, as far as known, makes its own nest tunnels in soil (Rightmyer et al., 2013) it could be restricted to certain soil types.
