Characteristics

The Ecitonini are distinguished from Cheliomyrmex by the following characters (Bolton 2003):
  • Propodeal spiracle elliptical to slit-shaped
  • Waist of two segments (petiole plus postpetiole) (only petiole in queens and males)
  • Abdominal spiracles V-VII oval to slit-shaped
