Global Range: (100-1000 square km (about 40-400 square miles)) Endemic to the lower Colorado River drainage area from the Arizona-Nevada-Utah border region south into adjacent Baja California, Mexico. Also ranges east along the Virgin, Salt, and Gila Rivers of Arizona (Opler, 1999, Arizona Game and Fish, 2003), although Brock and Kaufman (2003) show the range to be essentially linear. Vaughan abd Shepard (2005) give a somewaht wider range as follows: along the Colorado River from
southwest Utah through southern Nevada and western Arizona. This sootywing is also
found in the Coachella Valley, California, and south into Baja California and Sonora,
