Poanes carus is a year-round resident in a few separate populations in southern California, Arizona and New Mexico, ranging south to Panama (Scott 1986). Habitats are desert grassland and oak/pinyon woodland. There are several flights each year with the approximate flight time April1- Sept. 30. (Scott 1986). Some sources synonymize this species with Yvretta carus.Trusted
