Fathead sculpins (Family Psychrolutidae, Psychrolutes)

Psychrolutes is a genus of deep-sea fish of the family Psychrolutidae (fathead sculpins). In June 2003, Fathead sculpins are deep sea fish belonging to the Order Scorpaeniformes. The genus Psychrolutes contains 11 recognized species[1]:

Psychrolutes macrocephalus

Blobfish Psychrolutes marcidus)

Psychrolutes marmoratus

Psychrolutes microporos

Western Australian sculpin (Psychrolutes occidentalis)

The World Register of Marine Species (2) says Psychrolutes zebra is accepted as Psychrolutes paradoxus, Psychrolutes latus is accepted as Neophrynichthys pustulosa, Psychrolutes pustulosa is accepted as Gilbertidia pustulosa and Psychrolutes pustulosus is accepted as Gilbertidia pustulosus.
