Description

Colonies are massive, columnar, encrusting or laminar. Corallites are in short valleys or are irregualrly scattered and shallow. Corallite walls are indistinct. Columellae consist of groups of pinnules. Septo-costae are fused in distinctive patterns and have finely serrated to heavily granulated margins. Polyps are usually extended at night and sometimes during the day. Retracted polyps have rough appearance. (Veron, 1986 <57>)
