Range Description

The species is known from most Pacific coastal drainage from the Amur River basin in the north to Pearl River basin in the south including the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan and Hainan Island (Kim et al.1997, Chen et al. 1998, Bogutskaya and Naseka 2002 ). It is probably native to Taiwan, however widely introduced in mainland China from Taiwan in the 18th century and from China to Korea and Japan. In the 20th century, it was also introduced to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Fiji.
