Amphidromous. Refers to fishes that regularly migrate between freshwater and the sea (in both directions), but not for the purpose of breeding, as in anadromous and catadromous species. Sub-division of diadromous. This species is common in the Federated States of Micronesia and although the species may be affected by sedimentation from sakau farming, this is not seen as a major threat at this time. The species is listed as Least Concern. However, as there is no detailed population data and no information on the life history of the species, further research is recommended on ecology and population for this species.

Population
This species is found regularly in the Senipehn, Mahnd, and Lehn Mesi rivers in Pohnpei, and is considered common (Buden et al. 2001). The species is very common in streams in Kosrae (D. Boseto pers. obs. 2008).

Major Threats
There are currently no known major threats to this species. The production of sakau on Pohnpei has resulted in the desforestation, destruction and conversion of habitats on the island, often resulting in sedimentation (Merlin and Raynor 2005). This is a potential threat to the species.
