Diagnostic Description

Plain brown moray that has a distinctive dark ring around each eye that extends backwards as a rectangular blotch and white spots surrounding each mucus pore around the mouth.

Gymnothorax monostigma

Gymnothorax monostigma is a moray eel found in coral reefs in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.[1] It was first named by Charles Tate Regan in 1909,[1] and is commonly known as the One-spot moray (also spelled as Onespot moray).[2]
