Range Description

The species is known from the Nam Ma River, northern Lao PDR (Kottelat 2000), and from Nghia Lo, Yen Bai Province, Viet Nam. Records from adjacent parts of drainages in southern China (e.g., the Zhujiang (Pearl River); Zheng et al. 1989) pertain to another species (Kottelat 2000).

Horny sheath of lower jaw without a sharp, cutting edge; body slender, depth 4.5-4.8 times in SL; two pairs of barbels present (maxillary barbels very small); last simple dorsal ray slender and not serrated posteriorly (Ref. 43281).
