Overview
Comprehensive Description
Biology
Occurs rocky or sandy-rocky substrates of rivers with rapidly flowing waters. Feeds on algae which grow on rocks in the river and cascades. Oviparous (Ref. 205). Is probably also an insectivore since some specimens which were examined showed the presence of insect larvae in their stomachs (Ref. 27627).

Justification
Only known from two locations in the Rusizi and Luiche rivers. The population size is thought to be small as it is rare in fisheries catches. Area of occupancy is less than 500 km² and habitats are declining in quantity and quality due to increased water turbidity due to erosion on watershed.
