North American Ecology (US and Canada)

Poanes yehl is a year-round resident in the southeastern United States, excepting most of Florida (Scott 1986). Habitats are southeastern woods and swampy woods. Host plants are species from the bamboo genus Arundinaria. There are two flights each year with the approximate flight times late May-June 15, and late Aug.-Oct. 31(Scott 1986).
