North American Ecology (US and Canada)

Poanes massasoit is a year-round resident in the northeastern and mid-western United States (Scott 1986). Habitats are marshes, bog and roadside sloughs. Host plant is limited to the sedge Carex stricta (Cyperaceae). There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time July 1-early Aug. (Scott 1986).
