Depth of body 26.6–31.7% SL; length of head 20–22.1% SL, head depth 89–96% HL. Snout elongate and pointed, conical. Snout 31.5–33% HL; mouth terminal. Submental swelling present and strongly forward-projecting. Teeth, bicuspid, five in upper jaw, six in lower. Eye diameter 44–62% of the length of the snout. Dorsal fin length around 24% SL, 25–30 rays; anal fin length around 28% SL, 33–37 dorsal rays. Anal in advance of dorsal which originates over the tenth anal ray. Caudal peduncle length 19.5% SL; 23.2–27% as long as high. Caudal fin small with obtusely pointed lobes. Scales in the lateral line, 76–87; 12 circumpeduncular scales.
Color: in alcohol, dark brown dorsally fading to lighter ground colour ventrally; faint dark band, the width of approximately eight to nine scales running between dorsal and anal fins.
