Star silverside

Top of head profile ~ straight; top jaw extendible; mouth curved, ends behind front edge of eye; head relatively deep ~ 16-19% of SL; dorsal fin III-IV + I, 7-8;  first dorsal fin very small, origin behind origin of anal fin; base of 2nd  dorsal ends before base of anal fin; pectorals longer than head, but not reaching past pelvic tips; anal fin I, 24-28; 39-40 lateral scales; 17-20 scales in front of dorsal fin; 8-9 transverse rows of scales; 2 scale rows along base of anal fin. 

Back greenish, lateral silver stripe narrow (~ 1 scale wide, ¾ eye), with blue upper margin.

Size: 14 cm.

Habitat: over sandy bottoms near reefs.

Depth: 0-10 m?

Costa Rica to Ecuador.
