Biology

Inhabits stagnant puddles, ditches and creeks of low to moderate velocity, between 20 to 90 m elevation. Herbivorous and feeds on "aufwuchs", diatoms, filamentous algae and seeds (Ref. 36880).

Cheirodon dialepturus

Cheirodon dialepturus is a species of fish in the Characidae family.[1]

Description[edit]

It has an elongate, compressed body. It has 32-34 vertebrae and is of a pale brown colour with a bronze-green shading and some conspicuous black scales at the back.

Distribution[edit]

In Pacific drainages from Costa Rica to Panama and Colombia.
