Introduction

A fast-flying, fruit-feeding neotropical genus. The name refers to the many fine lines that make up the ventral wing pattern in some species - quite different than the serially homologous pattern of spots and stripes distributed among the wing cells in the "nymphalid groundplan" (cf. Nijhout, 1991).
