Description of Volutella

Test tubular, half-coiled. Aperture circular. Shell organic, hyaline. 1 or 2 long filopodia, type species: Volutella hemispiralis (Chardez, 1972). Marine; beach sands, common. This genus was originally described by Chardez (1972) as Volut - a homonym of a marine mollusc.
