General Description

 Colonies. With a daily growth rate of 5-6 mm, pale grey, with a thin aerial mycelium, without coloured exudates. Ascomata. Bluish grey or nearly black in reflected light, superficial, spherical or ovate, ostiolate, 140-220 μm, with a pale brown wall of textura intricata in surface view; producing asci and ascospores within 10 days; ascomatal hairs partly long, flexuous, apically circinate or spirally coiled, verrucose or warty, brown, 4-5 μm broad, partly short, tapering, verrucose, often arranged in small brushes. Asci. Clavate, stalked, evanescent, 27-36 × 11-14 μm, 8-spored. Ascospores. Ovate or broadly fusiform, eventually olivaceous brown, 8.5-10 × 5.5-6.5 μm, with a lateral germ pore near the more attenuated end, containing numerous small droplets.
