The hymenium should be white in this species. It maybe just be the color balance in this case, but it certainly look misleading to me.

Nathan Wilson commented on "Image":
This could well be Trametes versicolor, but it's an odd growth form if it is and the resolution in EOL isn't high enough to tell for sure.

Nathan Wilson commented on "Image":
Without seeing the underside it's hard to be sure whether or not this is a Trametes, but it could also be a Stereum based solely on this image.

Nathan Wilson commented on "Image":
This looks like either Chondrostereum purpureum or more likely Trichaptum biforme (the type of wood is important in telling the difference, but T. biforme is generally larger and better formed like this).

Nathan Wilson commented on "Image":
It's not completely clear from the image, but this could be an image of a False Turkeytail (Stereum sp.). It might be a Trametes, but if so it's not in great condition.

Nathan Wilson commented on "Bracket Fungus":
I'd have to see the underside to be sure this is a Tremetes since based on this photo it could be a Stereum. The structure of it also seems more like some of the Stereum species.

Nathan Wilson commented on "Image":
The maze-like structures look like the hymenium which is not correct for Trametes versicolor.

Nathan Wilson commented on an older version of "Trametes versicolor (Bracket Fungus)":
This looks like one of the larger conks like Fomitopsis or possibly Ganoderma.

This looks like one of the larger conks like Fomitopsis or possibly Ganoderma.
