Stamnaria pusia (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Massee, not conspecific to Stamnaria sp.

As the title tells, this is another taxon to be excluded from Stamnaria Fuckel!

Höhnel 1910: 623-624, no. 530, wrote about Sarcoscypha pusio (Berk. & M.A. Curtis) Sacc., that it was some typical Sarcoscypha, being same species as S. javensis Höhnel, which had grown on parts of plants submerged in soil, thus had grown a longer stipe than his type. Höhnel concludes his treatment of this fungus: "Masse hält Sarcoscypha pusio für eine Stamnaria, mit welcher Gattung jedoch der Pilz gar nichts zu tun hat wie schon die Asci lehren".

I do believe Höhnel without any need of proving the fungus myself, since all other proved true Stamnaria spp. do need some Equisetum sp. to grow on, i got no reason to belive there could be any member of this genus to grow on rotting debris in the soil.
