Range Description

This is an endemic species of the main Ethiopian plateau where it is widely distributed and not rare (though rarely recorded since publications on Ethiopian butterflies are few). There are records from the northwest, the south and the southwest, many of which are from ShoaProvince. Some records are almost certainly from within what is now Eritrea. It should be noted that apparent records from Northwest Tanzania on online sites linked to the Web of Life are likely to be mistaken transcriptions of Charaxes grahamei. The extent of occurrence (EOO) is large, possibly several hundred thousand km2, but is not accurately known because of poor documentation of Ethiopian fauna. For the same reason, the area of occupancy is not well known.
