Introduction

A widely-distributed African and tropical Asian species, now introduced in South America and the Antilles. H. misippus exhibits sex-limited polymorphic mimicry with the various forms of Danaus chrysippus. Larvae are polyphagous, but Larsen (2005) says that the favorite host family is Portulacaceae.
