Phyciodes orseis is a resident to northern California and Oregon (Scott 1986). Habitats are mountain valleys. Host plants are herbaceous, and largely restricted to genus Cirscium (Compositae). Eggs are laid on the host plant in large clusters. Individuals overwinter as third instar larvae. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time May 15-June 30 (Scott 1986).Trusted
