North American Ecology (US and Canada)

Boloria kriemhild is resident to a region including parts of Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah (Scott 1986). Habitats are Canadian to Hudsonian zone moist meadows and clearings. Host plants are restricted to species within the herbaceous genus Viola (Violaceae) with most known hosts from X. Individuals overwinter as fourth-instar larvae. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time June15-early Aug. (Scott 1986).
