Juvenile screaming cowbirds (Molothrus rufo-axillaris) mimic the coloration and patterning of juvenile bay-winged cowbirds (Agelaioides badius). Although difficult to see here, the bird is dark grey with brown primaries, not jet black (as seen in adult screaming cowbirds). According to Jaramillo and Burke, the length of the bird's primary feathers, as seen here, is greater than the length of the primary feathers seen in bay-winged cowbirds.
