Hemidactylus garnotii is a wide spread, entirely female species of house gecko native to Southeast Asia. Due to human movements, the species has come to be found on several other continents and many islands around the world. Closely allied with human habitats, the species can regularly be seen on the walls of buildings at night, usually congregated around light sources. Even when not seen, members of this genus can be identified be their curious chirping call.
