Habitat and Ecology
The species occurs in shallow, mucky seeps in forested areas, flat or on hillside and associated with either streams or ponds; also sedge-covered fens in Ozarks, central United States of America. Breeding habitat ranges from open woodland to pine Flatwoods. Larva is found in soft sediments beneath decaying vegetation, usually dead leaves, in or at edge of shallow water in seeps or stream margins.
