Range Description

Sympetrum meridionale occurs from southern Europe and the Maghreb to Central Asia. The species is common within most of its range but is for instance relatively scarce in the Iberian Peninsula. It can be very abundant in some areas, for instance in the Donau delta in the Ukraine and Romania. The species is rare in Central Europe but has during the present century shown a strong increase and a northwards expansion.
