The dwarf American toad is a slightly smaller subspecies of the Eastern American toad (Anaxyrus americanus). The dwarf subspecies also has fewer ventral markings.

This toad can live in a variety of habitats. The reproductive months are typically March-July; eggs are laid in pools. Development occurs withing 1-2 months after eggs are laid.
