Names and Taxonomy
Taxonomy
Comments: Narrowly endemic variety, known only from southern Texas, of a widespread, polymorphic species. Differs from typical Hedyotis nigricans in having the mature calyces markedly papillose throughout. Turner (1995, Phytologia 79: 12-21) provides original description, plus overview of classification of the species group. Recognized by Kartesz (1999, Floristic Synthesis).
