Range Description

This species has a very localized distribution in the Spring River and Eleven Point drainage systems in Arkansas and Missouri, USA (Hobbs 1989) and the Strawberry River drainage, near Evening Shade. The occurrence of this species in the Spring River drainage, however, appears to have been reduced due to displacement by the invasive crayfish Orconectes neglectus (Magoulick and DiStefano 2007). Currently a distribution and population genetics survey for this species is under way (B. DiStefano pers. comm. 2010). This species has an estimated extent of occurrence of 7,893 km2.
