When I was a child raised in the east these turtles were plentiful. You could always see them crossing back roads. I can remember people running over them for pleasure. That I always found disgusting. Now that I am an old fellow you can hardly see any box turtles in this area. On occasion you can but rarely. It would be nice if all humans would realize we share this planet with a host of other creatures, and our intelligence doesn't make us more important.
